ReUSE Revamp is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all children and young people involved in our activities. We recognize our responsibility to promote a safe environment where children and young people feel valued, respected, and protected from harm. This policy outlines our commitment to safeguarding and the procedures we follow to ensure the protection of children and young people.

Our Commitment

  2. Awareness and Training: We provide regular training to all staff, volunteers, and partners to ensure they are equipped with the knowledge and skills to safeguard children and young people effectively.
  3. Preventive Measures: We implement robust recruitment procedures to ensure that all staff and volunteers who work with children and young people are suitable for their roles.

Safeguarding Procedures

  1. Recruitment and Selection:
    • All prospective staff and volunteers undergo thorough background checks, including reference checks and police clearance, before being allowed to work with children and young people.
    • We ensure that all new hires and volunteers receive induction training that includes our safeguarding policies and procedures.
  2. Training and Awareness:
    • All staff, volunteers, and partners receive regular training on safeguarding issues, including how to recognize signs of abuse and how to report concerns.
    • We keep all safeguarding policies and procedures up to date and ensure they are easily accessible to everyone involved with ReUSE Revamp.
  3. Code of Conduct:
    • We establish and enforce a code of conduct that outlines appropriate behavior and interactions with children and young people.
    • Any breach of the code of conduct will be addressed promptly and may result in disciplinary action.
  4. Reporting Concerns:
    • All staff, volunteers, and partners are required to report any concerns about the welfare of children and young people to the designated safeguarding officer immediately.
    • We provide clear guidelines on how to report concerns, including an anonymous reporting option if needed.
  5. Responding to Concerns:
    • The designated safeguarding officer is responsible for managing and responding to all reported concerns in accordance with our safeguarding procedures.
    • We ensure that all concerns are investigated thoroughly and actions are taken to protect the welfare of the child or young person involved.
  6. Partnership with Other Agencies:
    • We work in collaboration with other organizations and agencies to ensure comprehensive safeguarding practices and share best practices.
    • When necessary, we will refer cases to appropriate external agencies, such as child protection services or the police.
  7. Monitoring and Review:
    • We regularly review our safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure they are effective and up to date.
    • Feedback from staff, volunteers, children, and young people is actively sought and considered in our review process.
